The program „AMD - A Metamorphopsia Detector“ was developed with ophthalmological expertise to measure metamorphopsias (distortions) and scotomas (visual field defects).
The free demo version makes you familiar with handling. By purchasing the version "AMD Pro" ophthalmologists, optometrists, opticians and YOU can measure, save, compare, document and forward encrypted results.
Metamorphopsias are distortions of a visual impression caused for example by age related macular degeneration (AMD), macular edema (e.g. in diabetes)or macular pucker.
How does the test work?
You straighten lines you see distorted when observing them with one eye in a given distance.
This leads to a picture a healthy eye will perceive as distorted – comparable to a photo negative.
The degree of distortions (amplitudes), localization (central or peripheral)and area are transformed in an index, which can be used as an indicator for improvement or deterioration.
Scotomas are visual field defects e.g. in age related macular degeneration (AMD) or glaucoma. By using AMD Pro the position and size of scotomas can be documented and monitored, both are reflected by an index: central findings and large scotomas lead to a higher index.
